Dr Jon Steinberg
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP
Dr Jon Steinberg is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. He completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1996.
Since completing his fellowship, Dr Steinberg has worked in the area of adult general psychiatry and old age psychiatry. He has participated in a number of trials of atypical antipsychotic medications. He has obtained higher qualification in old age psychiatry and is a member of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry of the RANZCP.
Dr Steinberg currently holds a clinical senior lecturer position at the University of Queensland and is involved with educational activities focused on mood disorders, old age psychiatry and schizophrenia, and its early detection and treatment. He holds a number of visiting medical officer positions at hospitals in Brisbane and is the Director of the Psychosis Programme at the New Farm Clinic.
Dr David Storor
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP
Dr Storor is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in the areas of Adult General Psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Psychiatry, and Old Age Psychiatry. He is a fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine and has completed advanced training in Old Age Psychiatry.
Dr Storor graduated from the University of Queensland in 1983. He worked in General Practice for 10 years before completing his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2003. He is a Visiting Specialist to the Prince Charles Hospital and holds a number of Visiting Medical Officer positions at hospitals in Brisbane.
Dr Storor has experience in a wide range and medicolegal assessments and has a particular interest in assessments for testamentary and financial capacity.
Dr Gregory Apel
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP
Dr Apel is a Consultant Psychiatrist with an active clinical practice in General Psychiatry. Dr Apel has special interests in areas of Drug and Alcohol Dependence, and Occupational Medicine, including assessment for Fitness of Duty, and psychological issues arising within the workplace.
Dr Apel’s Forensic Psychiatric Practice extends to over ten years preparation of reports in the Civil and Criminal fields, and experience as an Expert Witness in court. He is regularly engaged by both plaintiffs and defendants in insurance matters, personal injuries, and assessment of impairment.
Dr Curtis Gray
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP
Dr Curt Gray completed his medical degree in 1985 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1993. He has been a registered psychiatrist with the Medical Board of Queensland since 1993.
Dr Gray holds a Visiting Medical Officer appointment in the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service of Princess Alexandra Hospital, where the work involved assessing and managing the psychological/psychiatric sequelae of patients who have suffered a serious physical injury or medical condition eg. spinal injury, respiratory disorders, sleep disorders. This appointment also requires significant supervisory aspects of a multi-disciplinary team, including trainees in psychiatry.
His private practice is in the area of general adult psychiatry and includes up to four MedicoLegal (non-criminal), WorkCover, or insurance assessments each week. In the past ten years, Dr Gray has provided approximately 750 such reports. Dr Gray is familiar with the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment Edition 5, and has recently undertaken accredited training in the use of the Psychiatric Impairment Rating Scale (PIRS).
Dr Gray currently holds a number of RANZCP appointments including Chair of the Queensland Branch of RANZCP Consultation-Liaison Section and Secretary of the Federal Branch of RANZCP Consultation- Liaison Section.
Dr Tom Hogan
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP
Dr Hogan graduated from the University of Queensland in 1978, and has worked as a clinician in Hospital Practice and in General Practice until 1986. He has obtained his fellowship in Psychiatry through his training programme largely in the Brisbane area in 1992. He has worked in full time clinical practice sine that time in his private rooms at Carina.
His interests are Acute Psychiatric Care including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders in adult population practice.
He is also interested in management of Chronic Pain Conditions and both Forensic work in Criminal and Civil matters.
Dr Nigel Prior
Qualifications: MB BS, FRANZCP, MRCPsych (Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) , FachAM (Fellow of the Australian Chapter of Addiction Medicine)
Dr Prior is a consultant psychiatrist with extensive forensic experience in both the civil and criminal fields. For nearly twenty years he has prepared expert reports and appeared as an expert witness in the Supreme, District and Magistrates courts, the AAT, the Mental Health Tribunal, and the Health Practitioners Tribunal. Dr Prior currently acts for both plaintiffs and defendants primary in civil and occupational personal injuries cases.
His clinical special interests include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, mood and anxiety disorders and addiction medicine.
Dr Prior is a member of the Queensland MedicoLegal Society and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. He is currently both the chair of the Board of Practice Standards and a member of the College Executive Committee of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
